Module overview

Working Genius begins with understanding yourself.

Most of us know that there are parts of our work we naturally enjoy, parts we can do reasonably well, and parts that seem to take far more energy than they should. Working Genius gives us a simple language for understanding those differences.

This section will help you explore the kinds of work that naturally give you energy and joy, the work you are capable of doing but which may eventually drain you, and the work that is most likely to frustrate or deplete you.

The goal is not to put you in a box. It is to understand your natural contribution more clearly so that you can work with greater self-awareness, effectiveness and sustainability.

BY THE END OF THIS MODULE

Participants should be able to:

  • understand the difference between Working Genius, Working Competency and Working Frustration

  • identify and describe their two Working Geniuses

  • understand their two Working Competencies and two Working Frustrations

  • recognise that Working Genius describes energy and enjoyment as well as ability

  • begin identifying where their current work aligns — or does not align — with their natural wiring

  • understand their unique Genius pairing

  • identify some of the assumptions, guilt or judgements they may carry about their own profile

  • articulate at least one practical insight about how they could work differently
